Have you ever wanted a 16V head on your X engine?

Are solid lifters available for these engines? If not do the hydraulic lifters limit the max RPM much?
I have no idea.

Am just still looking for some powerful enough temporary engine swap to do things like Hussein-keep car roadworthy and work/modify one system at a time.
 
Thread resurrection with some pedantry - the Delta II in mkmini's photo has a 1.6 16V 103 PS engine. The 130 PS VVT engine (see photo) is a different family and is a "1.8" litre engine.

I have read somewhere that the hydraulic lifters will manage up to 7000 rpm, and solid lifters are very difficult to set up because of the head construction.

Mike - yes, they are off the shelf.

the issue is not being able to measure lash. the solution is to mill access holes (top or side), and make plates to cover said holes, so that lash can be accurately measured. this assumes a "mechanical" cam profile (ie has a ramp), rather than std hydraulic profile.

Just some clarification about the 182 16V series engines in the displacement that we would find of interest, 1.6L.

The first edition of this engine was the 182A4, 86.4mm bore, 67.4mm stroke, 1581cc, approx 103HP configured with intake ports forward and exhaust ports rearward. 1995-2001 +/- mid-level cars and utility vans such as Marea, Bravo, Brava, Multipla, etc.

The second edition was the 182B6, 80.5mm bore, 78.4mm stroke, 1596cc, approx 103 HP configured wth intake ports rearward and exhaust ports forward. 2002-2005 +/- mid-level cars and utility vans.

In some markets such as Germany and UK, FIAT sold a higher performance edition (badged ELX/HLX/GT) of the same cars that also came with the above two engines, but the 1.8L (1747cc) engine in those was based on the architecture of the contemporary FIAT 5-cylinder engine and had little in common with the above. Think of that engine as the 5-cyl engine with one cylinder chopped off.
 
182A4 and 184B6 both flow in the same direction.

You might see pictures of race engines that flow in the opposite direction (engine is used in formula 3 or 4.. ? ) and in those applications they seem to have the head flowing the opposite direction.
