Noob Scorpion Guy

Hi Dave, did you go to the PVGP this year? Did you show the Scorpion?
Welcome to XEB
Ralph

A professional photographer that was a PVGP sent me these today.

Very cool photos, have you attempted a 4 tail light arrangement (2 each side)?
Might look more balanced
Yes, that was the grille I shared earlier that you were thinking about.

But I don’t run reverse lights or use blinkers so don’t need that many lights. Less weight, less wiring, better airflow without for me.

037 rallycars were only the 2.

I tinkered around with quad Ferrari lights mounted in Ferrari 360 rear panel ends.

Very cool show, your car looks great as always. I just had both my bumpers repainted. They had not been painted since the 1990’s when the car was modified.

Do you have clear bra on front vertical surface of your front bumper, to protect from rock chips?
I am thinking of doing this after the paint cures.

Hey Dave!

Somewhere I have a photo of our two scorpions together, I will look for it... I miss mine big time... Hope you are doing well..

Internal thermostat, Guy Croft intake manifold, 45 DCOE setup. Relocating and minimizing the coolant hoses make for easy timing belt and water pump access. Changing the timing belt is just the one large hose fitting.

So Dave, I mean Nigel, what ever happened to that Saab Sonnet you were building when I first met you...back in the 90s?
Hi Karl. Did you see yourself in the photo I shared from the Italian car tour taken at Ferrari Washington?

Here are pics from the Sonett hillclimb car from around the time you remember.

Here it is now in France. Looks goofy on the transport roller narrow wheels with the widebody panels though. So, it’s in France.

Here is my old black street one with race engine with my Scorpion from college years.

I switch back and forth between the original rear grill and taillights and a roundhole mesh grill and Ferrari F50 taillights. Only 8 nuts and two wire connectors to swap them.

Have had/have several intake setups on it. Dual 45DCOEs, dual 42 DCNFs or this single 34DMTR setup.

This 76 I owned several years.

Fiat 124 I had in background.

A neighbor kept hounding to buy it. He had owned a Montecarlo in the Middle East. I had multiple Scorpions by that time which he used against me.

I sold it to him and it went across the street to his home. Years later after I moved his widow notified me of his passing. I went to pick it up and she was hugging it’s fender crying when I drove away. A coworker of mine bought it and somedays there would be 2 Scorpions in the office parking lot. It changed hands several times since and lost track where it may be now.

I didn't know there were that many in the DC area back then. I wonder how many there are now in the area?

The red 77 Montecarlo restorod EvoIII I still have was the first Scorpion on my radar.

The yellow 77 037 style Volumex supercharged was originally white owned by the son at Tony's Auto Repair in old town Alexandria ( I think you could see the car from the Metro train). Bob Kelly had it awhile in NoVa and was also owned by an Italian restaurant owner in Potomac Mills. I was driving it with my late father-in-law to rally happyhour when I asked him if I could date his daughter. he blew a gasket.

The gold 76 I got from Joe Cerroni who didn't want to deal with a blown head gasket. I replaced it myself. My neighbor had it after me, the Raul Mayorga my coworker then it went to Fredericksburg and then maybe PA.

I parted out a gold 76 I got from near National Harbor.

Brian O'Looney owned a red 76 which was crashed and parted out.

John Ovington has silver 76.

Ed Cohen had a very early 76 from factory w/o AC.

Rick Stifel had the two tone red and white 76.

There are at least two that have been to London Auto in recent years which I haven't met the owners. And a couple over on the Maryland side I know about.
