What did you do to your X1/9 today ?

lights with leds

Like most, I been working a list of things that are needed to be done. Raining here in California, so time to check the lights and do the least expensive upgrades for now. ( Yes Tony, I just ordered the parts for my front brakes, but that’s a later post. )
Today I upgraded my dash and Courtesy lights with leds. No major trick out, just a direct swap ( the 74 and 194 bulbs with the exception of the courtesy lights, there I used the JDM Super Bright Luxer1 12-SMD LED Interior Light Panel on sale now for $10,00 for two units) , but I am happy with the results. I used a local supplier - http://store.ijdmtoy.com - (California) sells Japanese leds with a sale for the holidays. Sorry for the poor photo quality but …………

Happy Holidays Everyone!

Hey! This where all the ineteresting threads have gone!

I haven't posted here lately because there hasn't been too much interesting going on. Now I know why! We need to disband this thread!

While waiting for new ideas, I returned to my other life over in the Bronco world and got some work done on my off-the-frame thing I am doing on my '71. The X shares a two car garage with two Broncos, so it had to go over into my storage until things crank back up on the Fiat side.

FRONT only??? There are two more ...

... wheels behind you,Vince... For what ya spent on bulbs ya coulda had a full set.

Well... at least when ya run off the road they'll be able to find you by the glow of your interior lights!

Geez... where are you from anyway?

Hopefully SANTA will help you out...

BTW... did ya order a speedo cable also?

Just rolled mine down the hill...

and into the shop for a good cleaning and drivetrain install. I hope to have it on the track a few times this year.:headbang:

Couple of dry days here in NorCal...

So I took the X out to run some errands in SF. I counted 4 compliments, 2 "what is that???"s and 1 "is it for sales?". I love the attention these cars get.

Drove the old bird

around the past couple of days and always get similar reactions and comments. Wouldn't happen if we were driving Beemer's or other, newer cars that we probably could afford, but prefer to be different.

I changed my interior

I changed out the seats, with 1974's I bought from Brent. Unfortunately after getting them it seemed the 36 year old vinyl would not hold the new stitching, (kept tearing) so I had 'em recovered with new vinyl and new yellow piping.

In the photo below you will notice the Henk Marten's-obtained center console also recovered to match the seats. The next step will be to have the center console pads, door cards and bulkhead vinyl dyed to match as I convert my Camel colored interior to dark brown, which I think goes a lot better with my Giallo FLY exterior.

I will probably be offering my previous Camel seats up for sale soon, they are pretty close to perfect shape.

And tomorrow...I will change out my rear brake hoses and install Speedbleeders. Always good to do mechanical repairs and upgrades whilst making the car "pretty". :)

UPDATE: so today with Paul Silva's help we replaced the brake lines, installed 4 SpeedBleeders (which helped a LOT) and then I just drove the crap out of the car. A lovely lovely day :)

Drove it

To the shop and am finally fixing the leaking intake and cam box gaskets. Forgot about the coolant holes in the cylinder head.:censored: Must be left over from the dark days of the carburetor. On this engine they are apparently just there to annoy you when you pull the intake manifold.

New Years Drive

Went to my work garage, where I had stored the X. Fired it up, marveled at how good it sounded, warmed it up, then drove it around the garage (it's a huge garage, like 100yds by 50yds). Parked it, let it cool down, covered it and now I'm going on vacation to Florida.
Happy New Year!

Going to pour some Marvel Mystery Oil down the sparkplug holes of the 83 I bought this summer that has a complete engine in it!:headbang:

Hopefully I'll be able to pull the motor in a few weeks and check it all over... Quite a bit in the way of getting that done though.:censored:

About 6 weeks late

and a few hundred bucks poorer (thank goodness for insurance! I saw what the whole bill was - all for one little pinky!)

Anyway, this is only a little behind where I planned to be Thanksgiving. Today I anointed it with oil (Castrol). Didn't want to forget that small detail later. I've been reading so many threads about the stainless overflow tank that I painted my plastic one in embarrassment.

Wow looks great Mike! I wished I knew you wanted a stainless tank, I'd grabbed one for you when I was in NC this past week. Did you get the header patched and exhaust cleaned up? any vids? I'd like to hear the exhaust under hard acceleration if you could get a vid?

1-4-11

Today was the first time in the New Year Ive attempted to do anything what so ever to 0924. After weeks of searching and the fact I don't want to buy online, Ive finally given up on "brush on" engine enamel and decided to mask and spray instead. Today I only managed to spray the block, and I'll get around to painting the transmission sometime later this week. Ive decided to use silver for the block and Ford grey for the trans. There is still a fair amount of cleaning and degrease that needs to take place before all the parts in the bay can be freshened up. I'll post pics after the trans gets painted as an update.

you most likely replied to an earlier post and thus it was grouped accordingly.... Now we have to back track to read your progress. geesh:rolleyes:
