Got distributor and fits in with no clearance issues but what I didn't realise I need a module so can anybody help and tell me what I need to get this to work module ,coil wiring etc thanks .Hi all
Just to let you know I went for marelli s810gx has its same height has original hopefully no mod needed to access panel does anyone know how to wire it I have a blue and black wire .do they both go to coil black to neg and will I need vac advance . thanks
Do not go this route. Based on the too good to be true thread I tried one. Spent good part of a season trying to get the X to run better, jetting, carb rebuilds, reporting vacucm lines, on and on. Turns out it was this style of Dizzy. Was seized enough that I could not turn it by hand, difficult to turn it with vice grips. Poor 1.5 was loosing most of its HP to turning the dizzy. Put the old one back in and boom runs like a dream. Can't wait for injectors and coil over plugs and an ecu. Here is one thread about that aftermarket distributor I remembered:
EI Distributors - too good to be true?
I've seen a certain So. Cal. eBay seller listing various electronic ignition distributors for Fiat Uno/Panda/Tipo, looks to be offering both the block-mounted type & the cam-end-mounted type distributors...xwebforums.com
I see the original eBay links to it are now dead. But read through the thread and see if there's enough detail to search for it online.
I don't recall any long term feedback about the quality of it. But for the price it might be worth a try to get away from the MM dizzy with the expensive cap.
Great feedback! As far as I can remember, this is the first time anyone has actually tried it and come back with some results. Although that could also mean the others had no issues with theirs? But that would be typical of inexpensive parts - a lack of consistency...some are good, some not.Do not go this route. Based on the too good to be true thread I tried one. Marelli used the GM module on Plex and other systems which has four pins and ground. It requires a heat sink with thermal paste to ensure it can dissipate the heat generated.Hi
Thanks for the reply but this isn't one of those its a genuine marelli bought from a italian parts specialist in the UK just doesn't have the module on the side so just wondered which one i need thanks
For the groups information this is the distributor than does not turn. Must have started at 500km of use.Great feedback! I'm interested in this mod too, do you know what the difference is between the GX, BX and FX versions? Is the height exactly the same? What's the donor cap that you now need for a side entry as they seem to come with a top entry for Uno use? I'm guessing the pickup uses the same module/coil setup as found on 124 etc which might well be more available. I.e the 4 pin ignition module type with matching suitable impedance coil and as @kmead says the module needs to be well heatsink'ed. The AEI200 coil/ module pack springs to mind as the stock part, but you may well need to build it from separate bits if it's the one.Hi all

If this style of distributor is a real Marelli made unit , and has the Magneti Marelli symbol cast into the alloy body then they work just fine...For the groups information this is the distributor than does not turn. Must have started at 500km of use. View attachment 73830
you will not only need an ICM and its heatsink, you'll also need the correct coil to do the job. (if you want everything to last)Got distributor and fits in with no clearance issues but what I didn't realise I need a module so can anybody help and tell me what I need to get this to work module ,coil wiring etc thanks .
Thanks for the heads up on that one good to know i remember chasing a misfire on a tvr once ended up being a cheap rotor arm replaced with a genuine lucas one and all goodFor the groups information this is the distributor than does not turn. Must have started at 500km of use. View attachment 73830
Has far has i know the 810 gx and fx have shorter body the others are longer mine fits with cap supplied top entry. Thanks everyone for your help just need to order small black four pin module and square coil then ill let you know how it goes.I'm interested in this mod too, do you know what the difference is between the GX, BX and FX versions? Presuming you have a Plex electronic distributor, I believe this will assist you in wiring it up. Make sure you place the GM module onto a heat sink with heat transfer paste so you don’t burn up the chip. (This is the same paste used for computers so you can get it from one of those sorts of shops)Hi
Finally got parts together to do this been messing around with my cam change i purchased 4 pin module plus square coil can anybody verify wiring to and from module and best place to mount it am i right in thinking it earths through fixing holes
