Several versions of the manual contains serious errors that were corrected in factory Service Letters:
* The manual gives the wrong placement for the main bearing shells.  This is corrected in [[Media:551-38.pdf|this service letter]].
* The manual gives the wrong orientation for the big-end rod caps.  This is corrected in [[Media:100-17.pdf|this service letter]].
* The order of the main bearing caps is incorrect on Page 10-30 of the Engine Assembly section. The correct order is for the cap with one notch to start at timing gear end, with the cap without notch at flywheel end.
