Those are all rusted away here. All the pickup most anyone needs. Now if people with small wee wees would accept that reality.

Congrats.

Hey! my small wee wee truck tows my friends Italian cars around, my cars and the occasional boy scout trailer.

Most anyone. Not all.

I see so many fully kitted out trucks that will never carry anything more than a couple sacks of top soil and a few 2x4s or will never ever go down anything but a sandy two track unimproved road I can drive my X1/9 down. People have been sold a bill of goods around manliness, fake utility and so on. It is amazing how much money people are spending on vehicles who’s capabilities are never going to be needed and cost the owners serious dollars each day they roll down the road. It is an American thing.

I know I know. We call them LDS trucks. Once my old truck broke and all those parents with their useless SUVs could not pull the boy scout trailer. Utterly useless....

I'd have a smaller truck and resisted as long as possible but am reasonably happy with my government surplus auction fleet Chevy 1/2 ton. Sorry for the thread drift mikeroten, I like your "wedge" design truck it matches your Lancia!

I think about this often and (unfortunately) you could easily make the same case for modern sports cars and super cars. Few places left in this country to actually use a modern 300+ horsepower vehicle to its fullest and most owners make no attempt to do so.

This is why I enjoy my Fiats and the Miata, slow cars are much more fun everyday than the small number of times I would risk my license with a truly fast car.

I have a few family members that don’t fit in the Italian cars. Idk why I can’t rotate the pic.

hahaha glad you guys got some fun out of this! the yellow truck is now running and passed emissions. I have to replace the clutch and sort out why the lighting is only getting 8v then it's back to the scorp I go!

hey there folks, it's been over a year. it's interesting how life has been refactored thanks to covid.
does anyone have any first-hand experience with scorpion friendly shops in california?
I'm in a position where captial is outweighing time but I really want to see this go to the endzone.

ideas?

I can't recall where you are in CA, but on the Central Coast, my go-to would be Chris Obert in Santa Cruz. He'll be very familiar with Scorpions and really knows what he's doing. You can reach out to him on this forum or his FiatPlus.com website.

In So Cal, Mark Allison at Allison's Automotive in Upland was hit or miss in my experience. Did OK with my 124, but I subsequently had a very frustrating experience with an 850 Coupe and so did a friend with his 124. I heard Mark closed his repair shop and focuses on selling parts now.

Another option in So Cal is Fast Cars Ltd. in Redondo Beach. This is a Ferrari specialist and I don't have first-hand experience, but I know they work on lots of "odd ball" and one-off cars and I'm sure are more than capable with a Scorpion. I'm also sure the shop rate is eye-watering, but if there's not too much left to do, it may be worth it just to get the car finished.

The last place you could try is Benny at John's Alfa Romance in Los Angeles. Benny is a great guy, does great work and had a very affordable shop rate last I was there with my old Alfa Milano Verde around 2017. He'll sometimes take on non-Alfa projects, but you'll have to call and ask. He's owned several Fiats and the like and will tell you honestly if the Scorpion is something he'd be able and willing to work on. It's worth the phone call.

Hope others might have better options for you. The struggle of finding capable shops is real these days.

had a nice conversation with Chris. He's backlogged (like every other shop it seems) but I'm now "on the list" - time to start documenting what needs to be done.

OK, we have set a date in mid May! I need to find a reliable enclosed auto transport carrier to take the car from here in norcal all the way to Columbus OH.

Considering actually driving the car home after it's done!
